Captured ship: L'Egyptien of La Rochelle (master Jacques Massé or Jacques Mauré).
History: a French merchant ship which arrived at Port-au-Prince with a cargo of enslaved people 18 October 1755, and departed for La Rochelle c May 1756 (information from letters of other ships). There is no evidence this ship was captured..
Documents: 2 bills of lading for L'Egyptien at Port-au-Prince May 1756, which were probably originally enclosed in letters in the mail bag of some other ship, most probably Marie Esther (Rullier) (the masters of L'Egyptien and Marie Esther were each carrying parts of cargo belonging to the other), or L'Aimable Julie. No evidence here that L'Egyptien ever was captured. Contents transferred to HCA 32/223/18
