Appeal from the High Court of Admiralty.
Captured ship: La Charmante Susanne (master Jean Michel Thomas).
History: a French merchant ship with a letter of marque (English-built, 160 tons, 6 guns, 28 men) bound from La Rochelle to Cayenne; taken on 5/16 May 1747 by HMS Monmouth (Henry Harrison commanding), and brought into Plymouth.
Manuscript appeal papers: claim that the ship was the English ship Charming Susan of London (master Patrick Scott), bound from South Carolina to London, and taken by a French privateer in March1745.
