Description

Prisoner name: J Cant.

Court and date of trial: Essex Lent Assizes 1827.

Crime: Stealing two pounds the property of James William Coleman.

Initial sentence: Two Years imprisonment.

Gaoler's report: Good character as specified in a report by Thomas C Neale Governor of Essex Convict Gaol.

Annotated (Outcome): Nil. February 22 1828.

Petitioner(s): George Cant and Mary Ann Cant prisoner's parents and 58 signatories.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): Good character; respectable connections; youth; got into bad company; learnt trade of shoemaking.
