Appeal from the High Court of Admiralty.
Captured ship: Duke of Kingston (master Thomas Meriton).
History: History: an English ship (50 tons), usually employed importing French wine from Boulogne with a pass, but bound from London to Boulogne, laden with 300 or so guineas concealed behind the stove and in a cake of gingerbread, to take on household goods, baggage and passengers; taken on 6 July 1744 by the privateer Eagle snow (John Bazeley commanding), and brought into Dover.
[Decision: restored with costs and damages, 8 September 1744, and appealed]
