Description

Divider card undated with typed heading on front, 'Specimen Letter, Newspaper and Parcel Stamps' together with a typed reference to the book 'Railway Letter Stamps' by Ewen L'Estrange and with nine specimens mounted on front, sub-items 1-9 below, and with one attached envelope, item 29, mounted on reverse:

1) Letter stamp, green unused, with printed wording 'Great Eastern Railway 2d Fee for the Conveyance of Single Post Letters by Railway'.

2) Letter stamp, green unused, with printed wording 'Great Eastern Railway 2d Fee for the Conveyance of Single Post Letters by Railway'.

3) Newspaper stamp, green unused, with printed wording 'Great Eastern Railway One Newspaper ½d' and with serial number 342083 stamped on front.

4) Newspaper stamp, red, with printed wording 'Great Eastern Railway Newspapers in Bulk 2d' and with serial number 118786 stamped on front and a mark indicating usage.

5) Parcel stamp, vermillion unused, with printed wording 'Great Eastern Railway Parcels Service 1d' and with serial number 73709 stamped on front.

6) Parcel stamp, vermillion unused, with printed wording 'Great Eastern Railway Parcels Service 4d' and with serial number 304006 stamped on front.

7) Parcel stamp, vermillion unused, with printed wording 'Great Eastern Railway Parcels Service 6d' and with serial number 68542 stamped on front.

8) Parcel stamp, vermillion unused, with printed wording 'Great Eastern Railway Parcels Service 1 shilling' and with serial number 978 stamped on front.

9) Parcel stamp, landscape, green, with printed wording 'Great Eastern Railway From ... To ... Number of Packages... 4d Paid' and with serial number U01620 stamped on front, used for one package, stamped 'Takeley [Essex]' as originating station and with Liverpool Street [Station, London] hand-written as destination.
