Description

Extract from 'Great Eastern Railway Magazine' December 1917 page 272, 'The Great Holland Bridge', describing and illustrating the rapid reconstruction of the timber bridge between Thorpe-le-Soken and Clacton-on -Sea, Essex, seriously damaged by fire in the early hours of Friday 31 August 1917 but rebuilt and back in use by Sunday evening 2 September.
