Description

Prisoner name: William Smith.

Court and date of trial: Glasgow Circuit Court held on 1 May 1838.

Crime: Forging the name of his nephew, James Smith.

Initial sentence: Two years imprisonment.

Annotated (Outcome): Discharged [Nil].

Petitioner(s): Prisoner and signed by 112 others.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): Family dependent on his wages; Ill health - hernia, severe pulmonary complaints with constant coughing, fever and sweating, good character.
