Description

County or diocese: Hereford. Grant: Clerical moiety, 1294 Sept 23 x 30. Document type: Receipt. Folios or pages: 1. This single sheet of parchment is a receipt given by the dean and chapter of Hereford Cathedral, as collectors in the diocese of Hereford of the subsidy of a moiety granted by the clergy to Edward I in 1294, to the prior and convent of Monmouth, for 100s. received from them for their portion for the third payment of the moiety due for the churches of Stretton and Asperton, paid to the dean and chapter by the hands of Martin, chaplain and vicar of the same churches. Given at Hereford on Michaelmas day (29 September) 1295. The document is wholly legible. This piece number was added to the E 179 series from unsorted miscellanea on 22 October 2012.
