Indented lease from Joan, widow of Thomas son of John de Belgreve, to Simon de Assewell of a meadow called 'Clartonmedowe', with appurtenances in Claverton (Clarton), [Cheshire], within the metes and bounds of the city of Chester. He is to hold it for eight years, paying an annual rent of 30s. Witnesses: John del Belgreve, Adam de Mottrum, Richard de Eton, Philip Filkyn, and others. Dated at Chester. On dorse: Copy or draft of grant by Richard son of Warin de Crofton to Richard Benet and Agnes, his wife, of his part of the mill on the River Dane called 'Newemelne' [New Mill], with all appurtenances, tolls and other issues. For this they have paid seven silver marks, and will pay an annual rent of 1d. [Undated but contemporary with lease.]. Witnesses: Warin de Mainwaring, William de Venables, Ralph le Vernon, Hugh de Polleford, Hugh de Hatton, William de Rostok, Hugh de Tewe, Hugh Frechet, and others.
