Description

This registered files series contains the agendas, minutes, surveys and correspondence of the Countryside Recreation Research Advisory Group (CRRAG). The group aimed to develop a co-ordinated methodology in the planning for open air recreation in rural areas by urban dwellers, provision of facilities for recreation in particular in Country Parks, and the implications for Green Belt policy.

The records were held by the Countryside Commission until 1999 when the organisation merged with the Rural Development Commission to form the Countryside Agency in 1999. In 2006 the Countryside Agency, English Nature and the Rural Development Service merged to form Natural England.

Administrative / biographical background

The Countryside Recreation Research Advisory Group (CRRAG) co-ordinated by the Countryside Commission changed its name to the Countryside Recreation Network in the mid 1980s.
