Administrative / biographical background

The international committees were chaired by English Nature, the National Conservancy Council and the Natural Environment Research Council, with the National Conservancy Council leading on some of the the projects.

In 1991 the Nature Conservancy Council was renamed English Nature and the Joint Nature Conservation Committee was created to deal with national and international conservation issues. This series however remained with, and was added to, by English Nature Headquarters until 2000.
