9137. Lieutenant-Governor, The Council, The Commons House of Assembly, and the principle inhabitants of the province [of St Augustine] to Brigadier-General McArthur, commanding in East Florida. Thanks him for his uniform and unexceptionable conduct. Discusses the protest against the expected withdrawing of the troops and the discharging of the soldiers. Begs that to prevent murder and rapine, some of the troops may not be disbanded. Also that ships and provisions might be supplied for any of the inhabitants who wish to go elsewhere. 'Neither the Bahamas nor Nova Scotia will suit persons with negroes'.
