9099. [Carleton] to Brigadier-General H E Fox. New York. Number 6. Encloses return. Discussion includes the disbanding of the British and British American regiments which go to the River St John and how the 3rd and 4th Battalions are to be disbanded at Halifax. All officers and men who wish to go to Europe are to be provided with passage. Six legions are to remain in Nova Scotia and the British Legion to accompany them. Sends a copy of the memorial from the British Legion's officers. Governor Parr has mentioned that the people from Machias have removed themselves from the eastern side of the River St Croix and it is recommended that the governor secures that frontier.
