9079. Carleton to Poyntz. New York. Warrant to pay Captain Charles Hewlett, paymaster to 2nd Battalion of Brigadier-General De Lancey's Brigade the sum of £1,074 22s 1d sterling. Being pay for the said battalion from 25 August to 24 October 1783, both days included. From which the sum of £35 6s 5d sterling is to be detained being stoppage from the pay of the commissioned officers. Also £169 18s 4d sterling for 16,312 rations of provisions issued, and [£130] being stoppage of 2½d from each man.
