This Regional Outcomes Indicators Website is a regional snapshot showing the change against each of the indicators across all nine Government Offices for the English regions. The indicators are: GVA at current basic prices (workplace); VAT Registrations; Working Age Receiving Income Support or JSA; % of Children in Workless Households; Working Age Employment Rate; GCSEs A - C; Key Stage 2 English/Maths; % Economically Active Adults; Pupil Absence; Life Expectancy Male/Female; Teenage Conceptions; Deaths from Circulatory Disease; Deaths from Cancer; Burglary Offences per 1,000 Households; Robbery per 1000 per population; Road Causalities Floor Targets Interactive Number of Bus and Light rail Journeys; Percentage Non-Decent Housing; Houses Built on Previously Developed Land; Percentage of Household Waste Recycled or composted.

The snapshot presents the data predominantly in terms of change over the previous period, and also incorporates a regional rank using the latest data. It includes concise commentary on each of the indicators. This commentary was provided by, and remains the property of, the department primarily responsible for delivering the PSA targets related to the indicator.

The Regional Outcome Indicators (ROIs) series was developed in 2002 by the Regional Co-ordination Unit at the request of the Deputy Prime Minister. The series was put together to: cover key policy themes, including economy, welfare and skills and community safety; incorporate regional, local authority and lower level statistics where possible; be used by Ministers and officials with a cross-cutting interest in delivery as a 'way in' to questions of regional and local variation in performance.
