Description

Prisoner name: Samuel Woolcock.

Prisoner occupation: Miner of Lanivet Cornwall.

Court and date of trial: Unstated.

Crime: Getting Elizabeth Hamley with child now living and chargeable to the parish of St Mabyn Cornwall.

Initial sentence: Unstated but confined for two years.

Annotated (Outcome): Refer to the Chairman of the Quarter Sessions inquiring what has been done. January 14 1828. To be discharged January 23 1828.

Petitioner(s): Prisoner.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): Questioned at every Quarter Sessions as to whether he would give security to the parish of St Mabyn for costs of child; agreeable to entering into his own recognizance for payment of the same but has no one who could stand surety for him; no objection to marrying Elizabeth Hamley; she has had two bastards prior to being acquainted with prisoner; poor and distressed.
