Description

Prisoner name: John Snell.

Prisoner age: 19.

Prisoner occupation: Basket maker.

Court and date of trial: Bristol [court unstated] October 1827.

Crime: Burglary in the property of Harris Abrahams.

Initial sentence: Death commuted to 14 years transportation.

Annotated (Outcome): Send for report of trial or gaoler's report. Query for Penitentiary [crossed out] November 23 1827; Gaoler's report. Bad. Nil. January 14 1828.

Petitioner(s): Prisoner and 17 signatories.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): Respectable connections; acquainted with William Stone who committed the robbery but did not know his intentions; went to The Withy Beds with Stone who produced the stolen goods which were hidden; previous good conduct.
