Prisoner name: William James.

Prisoner age: 16 or 18.

Court and date of trial: Nottingham [Nottinghamshire] Town Sessions January 1828.

Crime: Stealing a cheese.

Initial sentence: 7 years transportation.

Gaoler's report: Character from gaol very bad. Twice before convicted and 3 times in prison.

Annotated (Outcome): Nil February 7 1828.

Petitioner(s): William James prisoner's father and 7 signatories.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): Seduced by base characters; prisoner's father a widower; only son; asks to be sent to the Penitentiary.
