Description

Prisoner name: David Hogan.

Prisoner age: 14.

Court and date of trial: Surrey Winter Assizes 1827 held at Kingston upon Thames.

Crime: Stealing two shirts and a looking glass from the property of James Bowman bookbinder of Bermondsey Surrey.

Annotated (Outcome): Make inquiry of Mr Luff also the Keeper of the House of Correction for Surrey and of the gaoler at Maidstone. Nil February 1 1828.

Petitioner(s): Prisoner and 16 signatories.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): Honest and industrious parents; offer of employment; seduced by two bad characters named Jeremiah Anderson and Betsey Owen.

Other papers: Letter from J Agar of the County Gaol Maidstone [Kent]; note from J Green keeper of Brixton House of Correction confirming two convictions against Elizabeth [Betsey] Owen.
