NID14953 enclosing translation of an article from the Frankfurter Zeitung of 2 June 1917 titled “A fight Under Water” about a German submarine operating in the English Channel on 19 April 1917.
Folio 258-259: Letter from Director of the Intelligence Division to C-in-C Grand Fleet, 15 September 1917. NID/OL3089. Requested that all papers and diplomatic bags or covers carried by Swedish diplomats be detained and facts reported to Admiralty.
Folio 260: Letter from Director of the Intelligence Division to C-in-C Grand Fleet, 16 September 1917. NID/OL3044. Folio 264: Extract from Grand Fleet Orders, 24 September 1917, page 298, No 928. Sabotage. Information on attempts by German agents to damage ships by use of explosives under the guise of harmless stores, cargo etc.

Folio 269: Admiralty War Office memorandum GFO No 189 21 September 1915 from Aubrey Smith to Halsey concerning issue of Daily Extracts from Foreign Press.
Folios 270-286: Covering letter from Director of the Intelligence Division to C-in-C Grand Fleet, 24 September 1917. NID15215. Copy of translation from the French regarding flag signals of the German Navy supplied by a deserter (Jakob), a signalman on the German surveying vessel Hyane following interrogation by the French Naval Attaché in Copenhagen. Comprises Manoeuvre and Action Signals comprising Flags, Pendants and Night signals.
Folios 287-290: Covering letter from Director of the Intelligence Division to C-in-C Grand Fleet, 30 September 1917. NID14962. Translation of extract from the Weser Zeitung of 17 August 1917 entitled “The sinking of the Ariadne” taken from the war diary of Lieutenant Commander Steinbrinck believed to be in command of UC65 in the Flanders Flotilla. “…one of the best officers in the German Navy.”
Folio 291: Letter No 17/115, 4 October 1917 from Rear Admiral RJ Prendergast to Admiral David Beatty and reply HF0017/55, 6 October 1917 concerning use of information in Grand Fleet Order 928 relative to sabotage.
Folios 292-297: Covering letter from Director of the Intelligence Division to C-in-C Grand Fleet, 13 October 1917. NID15575 with report of interrogation of prisoners from UC.55 Relating to mutiny on board German men-of-war.
Folio 298: Letter from Director of the Intelligence Division to C-in-C Grand Fleet, 16 October 1917. NID15637. Announcement in “Tӓgliche Rundschau” that Vice-Admiral Z.d Mauve (retired) awarded Star of the Red Eagle 2nd Class. Admiral has been in charge of 4th Squadron whose ships were involved in recent mutiny.
Folio 299: C-in-C Grand Fleet to The Captain (S), XI Flotilla, HF0017/56, 18 October 1917. Information from German prisoner indicates that enemy aware that waters between Blyth and Tees are used as exercise area for our submarines.
Folios 300-305: Covering letter from Director of the Intelligence Division to C-in-C Grand Fleet, 26 October 1917. NID7168. Translations of letters found on German prisoner-of-war Gerhard Von Wenckstern Oberleutnant zur See (Lieutenant).
Folios 306-322: Covering letter from Director of the Intelligence Division to C-in-C Grand Fleet, 31 October 1917. NID15941. Copy of report on interrogation of Signalman Krause, a deserter from the German Navy, born 19 August 1889 attached to 7th Destroyer Half-Flotilla.
Folios 323-329: Covering letter from Director of the Intelligence Division to C-in-C Grand Fleet, 9 November 1917. O/L4551. Copy of report on interrogation of prisoners from German fishing vessels sunk in the Kattegat on 1 November [in fact 2 November – see Folio 330] 1917. Folio 329 contains a list of the crews with name of ship, seaman’s name and whether captured of missing.
Folio 330: Letter from Director of the Intelligence Division to C-in-C Grand Fleet, 11 November 1917. NID16147 with correction to NID 16147 of 9 November 1917. Trawlers sinking was on 2 November not 1 November.
Folios 331-332: Covering letter from Director of the Intelligence Division to C-in-C Grand Fleet, 11 November 1917. NID16147. Extracts from a letter written to a prisoner-of-war concerning a cruiser submarine operating off the Cape Verde Islands.
