The core contents of this series contains policy work and high level correspondence at Ministerial level. The series collection documents the time in office of Nigel Lawson as Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Nigel Lawson's term as Chancellor of the Exchequer covered from 1983 to 1989 whereas these papers date from 1979 to 1992. The difference in these dates can be explained by the transitional arrangements at the beginning and end of his term in this role; i.e. records from the ongoing business of his predecessor being required for business continuity and the need for certain aspects of his late term work to be concluded.
The records are arranged in chronological order.
