Folio 87b.
To: Charles E Deacon, Town Clerk and Clerk to the Local Board of Health, Southampton [Hampshire].
From: The General Board of Health.
Subject Matter: Draft letter acknowledging receipt of a letter dated 31 October 1855, with reference to the sewerage of Southampton, and of a communication from Mr A Morgan, recommending immediate plans to remedy existing defects in the drainage works. Deacon is advised that the President is of opinion that the mode of dealing with the outfall suggested in the letter from the General Board of the 29 October 1855 would remove the evil from which the low district is now suffering much sooner than the execution of reservoir sewers (as proposed in the plan submitted to the General Board) would allow.
