Description

Folios 84-86.

To: The General Board of Health.

From: Charles E Deacon, Town Clerk and Clerk to the Local Board of Health, Southampton [Hampshire].

Subject Matter: Letter acknowledging receipt of a letter dated 29 October 1855. Deacon advises that the same has now been brought under the consideration of the Special Works Committee of the Local Board, and that Mr Marriott has been directed to furnish, without delay, the particulars required by the General Board of Health. He has accordingly transmitted a copy of the General Board's communication to Marriott and requested him to take immediate steps for carrying out the resolution of the Committee. Deacon adds that he has also forwarded a copy of the same to Mr Simpson, the Engineer of the Local Board.

Deacon explains that he has been requested by the Committee to urge upon the Board the great importance of deciding upon some plan for completing the works without loss of time, as from a report submitted to them today by Mr A Morgan [copy included in item] it appears that sewage matter frequently flows into the dwellings of some of the inhabitants living in the lower part of the town.
