Administrative / biographical background

The British Embassy was established in Jedda in February 1948 until 11 November 1956 when UK diplomatic relations were broken off with Saudi Arabia. In 1963 UK diplomatic relations were re-established with Saudi Arabia and the Embassy in Jedda was re-opened. In 1985 the British Embassy was moved to Riyadh.
