Folio 190.
To: The Clerk to the Local Board of Health, Preston [Lancashire].
From: The General Board of Health.
Subject Matter: Draft letter enclosing a copy of a letter [not included in the item] this day sent to Messrs Wilson, Son, and Deacon in reply to their memorial [petition] to the General Board on behalf of the trustees of the estate called Fletcher's or Lutwidge's. The General Board expresses gratification at the resolution of the Preston Local Board in this matter, which, although it may not be of material importance, nevertheless defends an important principle, and 'cannot fail to have a considerable influence in so increasing a town as Preston, and upon all questions bearing so intimately on the sanitary improvement and welfare of the lower classes'. It is stated that the Local Board of Preston may be assured of the support of the General Board at all times.
