Folio(s) 163-166. Copy out-letter to Francis Freeling [Secretary to the Post Office] from Reginald Pole Carew [Under-Secretary] asking for letters addressed to Providence Hansard or his wife to be stopped and inspected. Hansard is suspected of forgery leading to money being taken from Sir William Curtis' bank. Pole Carew also mentions a mistress in the Borough [Southwark] whose identity was not at present known.
Also: Letter of 10 February from Freeling acknowledging the above and stating that letters addressed to Providence Hansard would be stopped. He has also written to the 'intelligent' postmaster at Bristol who may be able to help with information about Hansard's connections.
