7798. G Townsend to Carleton. Board of Claims. Informs him that several claims have been presented to the Board for waggon hire and for waggons and horses lost in the service in 1776 and 1777. Also claims for materials furnished to the Engineer's Department. Desires that directions may be given to prevent the possibility of the government being charged twice. The Board will enquire if they shall enter on their minutes only the evidence relative to the claims, or should they add their own observations.
