Description

A 17th century map, presumably found on a captured ship trading with the Spanish Main, which was once in this piece. There is no indication which ship it was found on, and it may have been a stray with no connection to any of the ships' papers now or once at this reference.

The map is now filed at MPI 1/80.

'Description del Districto del Audiencia de Nueva Espana'; a map of Central America, with parts of modern-day Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala and Honduras. Place-names and rivers shown. North indicated. There are three endorsements, apparently in non-European script.
