The Competition Policy Division merged with the Publishing Tourism Films and Distribution Division in 1980 to create the Competition Policy Tourism and Other Service Industries division.
The Division was split into three branches. Branch 1 was concerned with monopolies and mergers and review of competition policy, Branch 2 restrictive practices, competition policy and nationalised industries, prices, the newspaper, printing and publishing industries, commercial agency and newspaper mergers. Branch 3 dealt with tourism including the hotel industry, films industry including the Interim Action Committee, distributive trades and personal service trades.
