Second Anglo-Dutch War.
Captured ship: Abraham's Sacrifice of Genoa otherwise Offer van Abraham or Sacrificio d'Abram (master Antonio Basso).
History: a Genoese ship (450 tons), bound from Amsterdam to Cadiz, Malaga and Genoa (allegedly with the Duke of York's pass to go via the Channel, but instead went north-about round Scotland and Ireland, prepared to fight any British privateer), laden with cinnamon, pepper and other spices, logwood, ebony, brazil wood, Muscovy leather, whalebone, tar, iron, brass, pewter, lead (the lead taken from the prize John and Mary of Ipswich) and other goods; taken on 15/26 June 1667 about 50 leagues off the Black Rock of Galway by HMS Amity, HMS Eagle, HMS Falcon and HMS Guinea, and brought into Galway.
Court Papers:
