Description

Captured ship: Postilion of Rotterdam, master Florens Jacobsen.

History: a packet boat of the States of Holland, bound from De Ruyter's fleet to Rotterdam, in ballast, having delivered several packets to De Ruyter and the fleet, and returning with several great packets of letters, sent straight up to London; taken on [28 August 1667] by the privateer Victory (Henry Tate commanding) and brought into [Rye] Dover. [Second capture?].

Documents: examinations taken at Dover: CSPD 1677 p 424 mentions Captain Teart of the dogger belonging to the Governor of Dover, taking a Dutch packet with letters, and bringing her into Rye
