Description

Envelope, containing 8 newspaper cuttings [concerning British Railways restructuring][items originally housed in ZSPC11/687/70]:

1) manuscript notation 'D Tlgh 4.9.59' ['Daily Telegraph' 4 September 1959], 'Railway Police to have own Headquarters', [British Transport Commission Police to be based at Park Royal, also includes report on ticket frauds].

2) typed 'Daily Mail 14 July 1962', cartoon by Emmwood, [booking clerk to passengers trying to buy tickets] 'I should only take singles mate, we may be gone by the time you get back'.

3) typed 'Sunday Express 15 July 1962', cartoon by Giles, [car driver stopped by nails on roadway by station, to station staff], 'This sort of game won't make me use your train, Harry Huggitt'.

4) 'Daily Mail', undated [c 1962], cartoon by Emmwood, [station staff admiring female porter], 'Watch it 'Arry boy, them pink pants might be a management trick to stop us striking'.

5) 'Daily Mirror', 27 February 1963, 'Oh, Mr Porter, You do look smart', [new uniforms for railway porters], monochrome photographic illustration.
