Description

Prisoner name: Joseph Banks.

Court and date of trial: Norfolk Quarter Sessions, Norwich, July 1833.

Crime: Embezzlement of a £10 note.

Initial sentence: One year's imprisonment.

Annotated (Outcome): Remission prepared 30 January 1834.

Other papers: Two letters from John Harvey, chairman of committee of visiting justices, recommending remission of the prisoner's sentence on account of his dangerous illness and his good conduct in prison.

Surgeon's certificate from Page Nicol Scott, surgeon, confirming the prisoner's ill health.

Additional Information: Prisoner held in Norwich Castle gaol.
