Description

Prisoner name: John Thompson and Peter Magnus.

Prisoner occupation: Sailors.

Court and date of trial: Liverpool Borough Sessions, January 1834.

Crime: Forgery of an undertaking for payment of £2 10s with intent to defraud Isaac Levy of James Street, Liverpool, clothier, and uttering said undertaking.

Initial sentence: Transportation for life.

Annotated (Outcome): Sentence commuted to nine months imprisonment, 27 January 1834.

Petitioner(s): James Clarke, Recorder of Liverpool.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): Led astray by another; sentence severe for crime.
