Description

Prisoner name: William Elliott, alias Benjamin Ruddick (or Benjamin Ruddock).

Prisoner age: 18.

Court and date of trial: Essex Winter Assizes, Chelmsford, November 1833.

Crime: Horse stealing, together with John Jones, alias Lionel Lambert.

Initial sentence: Transportation for life.

Gaoler's report: Character unknown.

Annotated (Outcome): Nil.

Petitioner(s): Samuel Ruddock of Thetford, Norfolk, labourer, the prisoner's father, undersigned by 17 inhabitants of Thetford, including Thomas Breeze, chemist and druggist, the prisoner's former employer.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): Respectable family; good character; led astray by others.

Additional Information: Prisoner ordered to Leviathan hulk.
