Description

Prisoner name: John Prior.

Prisoner occupation: Labourer.

Court and date of trial: Essex Quarter Sessions, January 1833.

Crime: Larceny of bed curtains, the property of William Tyler of Chignal Smealy, Essex, shoemaker. (Before convicted).

Initial sentence: Six months imprisonment.

Annotated (Outcome): Nil.

Petitioner(s): The prisoner, undersigned by 19 inhabitants of Writtle, Essex, and district, and William Tyler, the prosecutor.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): Family on parish relief; would be re-employed if released; prosecutor recommends mercy.
