Folio 247: Commissioner Sir Richard Beach, Portsmouth. The West Indies squadron is still at St. Helens. The Foresight and Unity have been launched and the Owner's Love and Kent docked. Is sending copy contract with Mr. Grant for cordage. They have no money and need a supply or the workmen will not work. Is sending a survey of the Cadiz merchant. The Woolwich and Swallow are at Spithead. Mr. Holland went to inspect a cable seized by the Collector of Customs and found it belonged to the Navy. The Customs Officers expect a gratuity and he suggests they be allowed to keep one third of any stores seized by them. He also suggests a warrant to search properties in ten named places, he is sure a great deal of stores would be found.
