Folio 178: Commissioner Sir Richard Beach, Portsmouth. They were prevented from launching the Cambridge as the Hampton Court, Essex, Monck and Yorke came into port, and the Essex and Yorke ran aground. They managed to get them both off, and launched the Cambridge later in the night. The Edgar was docked and the Richmond is waiting. She needs to come in soon, as her bottom is rotten as showed when she was on the slip but Mr. Betts would not listen, as it might reflect badly on Sir Anthony Deane. He is weary of the problems he has, states that Commanders do as they please and that discipline is gone from the Navy. The Master Attendant needs an Assistant.
