6563. Carleton to Poyntz. New York. Number 5. Letter serving as a warrant representing that Brook Watson Esquire, Commissary-General has received the sum of £3,152 3s 11d and half penny sterling. Being the amount of stoppages for provisions issued to sundry departments and persons to 24 October 1782. Also for the net proceeds of 500 firkins of butter sold at public auction, and the net proceeds of the brig 'Richmond' belonging to the government taken in the Chesapeake [by the Continentals], which has been since re-taken and reclaimed.
