6140. Carleton to Poyntz. New York. Number 251. Warrant to pay Captain Charles Handfield, paymaster of Absent Corps the sum of £411 17s 4d sterling. Being an allowance to men of the Convention Army who have come in from the Rebels, paid them at the recommendation of a 'Board of Officers' in lieu of the intermediate pay due to them from the time they made their escape from the enemy to the time they were drafted into other corps, as per the annexed account.
