6126. Richard Hill, Inspector of the ferry at Brooklyn to Carleton. New York. Petition accompanied by several certifications and recommendations. Gives a detailed account of how he came from Ireland to New York with strong expectations (of being Sheriff in Cumberland County) but ended up amongst other things, committed to prison by the Americans following the evacuation of Boston, despoiled of his property by [the Green Mountain Boys] 'bandittii' under the command of Remember Baker and Ethan Allen, and banished to Penoboscot. Has never received either pay or subsistence, asks the honour of a commission in the Royal Garrison Battalion of invalids, or a permanent support on the Irish Establishment in his native country.
