- The Training Enterprise and Education Directorate was part of the Employment Department Group. In 1996 the Department merged with the Department for Education to become the Department for Education and Employment (DfEE). In 2001 the employment functions transferred to the Department for Work and Pensions, with the Department for Education and Employment becoming the Department for Education and Skills (DfES).
