These papers cover his wartime activities and his periods as Director of the Atomic Energy Research Establishment, Harwell and Member for Research of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority.
The series includes the texts of various lectures and speeches delivered by Cockcroft in his role as director, and files relating to his appointment, to the choice of the Harwell site, and to relations with various international atomic energy bodies.
