In 1973 following accession to the EEC, the Meat and Fatstock Group was reorganised into three divisions: Beef Division, Pigs and Bacon Division and Sheep and Livestock Subsidies Division. The division originally came under Meat, Poultry and Eggs, but after further reorganisation, became part of a Livestock Products Group in the Agricultural Commodities Directorate.
