Folios 566-567.
To: The General Board of Health.
From: William Stevens Jnr, Clerk (pro tem) to the Local Board of Health, Hitchin [Hertfordshire].
Subject Matter: Letter acknowledging receipt of a letter dated 6 August 1850, on the subject of surveys under the Public Health Act 1848. Stevens advises that the Hitchin Local Board is desirous that a survey of the Township of Hitchin should be made under the superintendence of the Bard of Ordnance, provided it can be accomplished at such a sum as the local Board consider consistent with strict economy. He requests to be informed of the proportion of the cost of the survey the Local Board would be called upon to pay. It is suggested that Mr William Thomas Heard of Hitchin, Surveyor, would be a proper person to act as local Surveyor under such survey.
