To: William Stevens Jnr, Clerk (pro tem) to the Local Board of Health, Hitchin [Hertfordshire].
From: The General Board of Health.
Subject Matter: Draft letter acknowledging receipt of a letter dated 3 July 1850, advising that the Hitchin Local Board have unanimously resolved that application be made for the sanction of the General Board to the Local Board borrowing the money necessary for the purchase of the mill in Hitchin, as recommended in the report of the Superintending Inspector. A form of the Board's sanction is said to be enclosed herewith [not included in item], in order that it may be filled up with the sum required. Stevens is advised that once filled up, a letter may then be addressed to the General Board making the request formally, with reference to the provisions of the Public Health Act 1848.
