To: The General Board of Health.
From: William Stevens, Clerk to the Guardians of the Hitchin Union, Hitchin [Hertfordshire].
Subject Matter: Letter observing that Her Majesty, by the advice of her Privy Council, has ordered that the duty of conducting the first election of the Local Board of Health for the Township of Hitchin should be vested in William Hawkins, and, in case of his refusal to act, in Stevens, as Clerk of the Guardians of the Hitchin Union. Stevens advises that he has received written intimation from Hawkins of his refusal so to act. He requests a copy of the Order in Council, with any other necessary instructions for his guidance.
