Description
(What the record is about)
-
This series contains registered files of the Permanent Secretary's Office.
At this time the Permanent Secretaries did not keep registered files, and there is no record of any papers belonging to Sir Michael Partridge (1988 to 1995) or Rachel Lomax (1999 to 2002). Dame Ann Bowtell, Permanent Secretary 1995 to 1999, did submit some of her personal papers for preservation and these can be found JB 3. Similarly Ministers in this period did not keep registered files. Some Ministerial papers for the period 1994 to 1997 were recovered after the 1997 General Election.
The material on the registered files is high level policy and strategy put to the Permanent Secretary. They also contain Board papers, whose records are not preserved elsewhere.
