Folio 22: Shelburne to Walpole. The only outstanding issue in the Canada liquidation concerns the Chabert paper, represented by Rybot. These claims were rejected not just because of alleged fraud but because Chabert was 'the albest Indian partisan' employed by the French and they resent his swearing allegiance to Britain. He lists various claims and discusses their merits.
Date and place: 1768 Sept 19 Whitehall.
