3568. Lord Amherst to Clinton, informing him that the King has commanded that Lieutenant-Colonel Gunning is appointed to lead the 82nd. Regiment of Foot. Also, that Major Tarleton be promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel. Lord Hillsborough has requested that he recommend Major Brownlow of the 57th Regiment.
